kenwood avenues in overlea. police say he was driving after 3 this morning when he came across a big group of people blocking the road. so he stopped and asked some of the people to move so he could get through. and a man came out of the group and fired several shots into the officer's car. county investigators are looking at this case and they have not released any information about the suspect although they say the shooting was random and the officer was not targeted. if you have information about the shooting, call county police at 410-307-2020. joce sterman, abc2 news. county police are investigating a 19-year-old shot on kingston road in middle river last night before 8. the teen was shot in the upper body taken to the hospital and is expected to make it. for reasons we don't know, a man in his 30s was walking on the on-ramp at route 50 at rowe boulevard when he was hit by a car around 8:30 tonight. state police say the glen burnie man is being kept alive for medical purpose at anne arundel medical senter. a bad morning on jones

falls expressway. both directions shut down after two crashes. jfx shut down one accident happened at 10 and another an hour later and problems on 95 between abington and havre de grace a person was killed what suv crashed under a tractor trailer. a 18 -year-old was killed on friday while trying to cross solomon's island road. at the time of the collision it was raining heavily and owens was wearing dark clothing. she was not in the crosswalk and there was no evidence that the driver was speeding. and a woman's body was found in the woods on route 1 in howard county. victim was found by a man walking near the 9,000 block of rue run. they believe the woman is in her 40ans reported missing by a friend. police are trying to identify the victim. there's a big difference between wins and losses and life and death in the nfl and for the secretary sunday in a row it's death making news. dallas cowboys defensive lineman josh brent says he is

just trying to deal with the death of his teammate and very best friend jerry brown. brent was released from jail after posting a half a million dollars bond. brent is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the accident early saturday that killed his friend brown. investigators believe they located a popular mexican american singer that wasreported missing. jenny rivera and 6 others were on a jet after taking off from mexico this morning. she put on a concert in mexico city and the wreckage of a small plane was located in the northern state and there were no survivors. she was the judge on the voice mexico show and had a popular reality show on telemundo. mexican transportation officials say everything points to the wreckage being the plane that was carrying the singer. same sex couples crowded city hall in seattle to walk down the aisle and say i do this morning. the wait is over for same sex couples there. hundreds of gay and lesbian

in health news tonight, new hope for families who have a loved one with alzheimer's. hope comes from our backyard at johns hopkins. there's word of a new and promising procedure that could be one day used to fight alzheimer's. kind of like a pays make he for the brain -- pacemaker for the brain. >> reporter: a cure for alzheimer's disease with the heart breaking mental decline and memory loss has long alluded doctors but now a surgical approach. involving a pacemaker used to stimulate the brain is offering great hope to the first such surgeries in the u.s., performed at johns hop cns by dr. and -- hopkins by dr.

anderson. >> we are excited about the surgery and hope to improve the patient's function for a extended period of time longer than otherwise they would have. >> reporter: experimental medications have so far failed to significantly slow the debilitating disease which affects 5.4 million americans and is expected to jump to 16 million by 2050 but dr. anderson says the surgery has effective in canada where it's been performed 6 times on patients such as robert with alzheimer's>> if i can't remember something and if i just pause for one, two or three seconds, it pops in. >> reporter: here's hour it works. it is surgically implapted in the chest -- implanted in the chest. wires are under the skin to the skull and deep into the brain to deliver an electrical stimulation at a rate of 100 electrical impulses a second. >> what's excite something our understanding of how memory works fits well with how this surgery might work. >> reporter: the same device is commonly used to fight parkin

is moving across america's heartland. the sea seen first big storm -- season he's first big storm is dumping snow in northern plains and western great lakes. more than 150 flights were canceled at the minneapolis airport. roads across the area shut down 300 car crashes and spinouts and vehicles. blizzard like conditions are expected to start off the week in the upper midwest. >> and now, maryland's most accurate forecast. >> that close to home look at annapolis today. a lot of fog for most of your afternoon. that has really kept the visibilities down ijamsville and havre de grace dealing with the fog. and we have a dense fog advisory for havre de grace through the course of tonight. 46 right now in town. look at the humidity. 100% so that cloud right on the surface. and that will keep us with the fog through the course of the overnight. 46 dew points and winds are light and variable and the pressure is 30.02 and falling. that's an indication there's a storm on the move and i will

show you where in a second. 50 we maxed out today. that's slightly above average. should be right around 47 this time of the year. 72 in the books would have felt good set in 1966. in terms of temperatures, we are uniformally into the 40s. north up towards manchester and elkton you are seeing a lower 40s but i think everyone will be right around 50 for tonight. the weather headlines going to be the visibilities which are reduced some. we are about a half a mile in baltimore and you go towards easton and eastern shore around the bay bridge and out through route 50 you are dealing with reduced visibilities between one and three miles and for that reason weather service put out a dense weather service advisory. it will be affecting the morning commute. keep the low beams on and speeds down tomorrow morning. notice spotty showers and there's another good downpour going over the southern section of the state. and again that's going to hold tight and go over the bay bridge and head over queen annes county tonight.

eastern shore will deal with the possibility of downpours and drizzle pockets through midnight. 50 as you wake up at 7 and into the of 0 -- 60s tomorrow with mainly cloudy skies. you notice all the action has been out to the south and west of us. up towards the north and the east we have been getting our bouts of some drizzle and fog. and it's because of this warm front situated over the area. this will lift toward the north during the course of the overnight and look at the warmth associated with eye. while we are at 46, raleigh is at 64. so the warm air moving from south to north will be in here but then we will see changes as we progress into the week. international falls 1 degree right now. same hold true towards pierre and northern plains. that's cold air that's due to move in as we go into the rest of the week. so again, fog out there tomorrow morning, dense fog advisory until 9 in the morning. and we see a blend of some sunshine and it's very limited sunshine. and here comes some wet weather that moves in latter portion of monday afternoon and evening.

that's when we will see the cold air moving across our area. the forecast for tonight takes you towards anne arundel county and will uniformally be into the 40s to around 50. dense fog all anne arundel county under the advisory going into tonight. western zones forecast for tomorrow, tawnytown to manchester, 63 to 64. notice it's uniformally into the 60s. a little bit warmer in baltimore city with temperatures around 68. some areas may pop close to 70. parkton around 64, 65, bel air eastern shore numbers delightful 66 degrees. call for maryland middle east accurate weather team 47 and patchy drizzle pockets, fog and then for tomorrow, mostly cloudy, 66 degrees and very warm. that front moves through tomorrow night and we will be at 50 but falling temperatures could be a rumble or two of thunder associated with that frontal passage. 52 on tuesday and there will be a storm lurking offshore for wednesday. we will keep it dry right now. but lynette may have to change things around tomorrow morning.

in florida they stripped down to speedos. 250 people ran a one mile course to raise awareness and money for children affected by hi development and aids. it will provide holiday gifts meals and school supplies for tampa bay area children. >> the national menorah was lit during a special ceremony in washington. today mark the first day and the second night of hanukkah. thousands of people attended the lighting ceremony the first lighting of the national menorah took place in 1979. well daniel simmons and his wife heather run the hubbard funeral home on wilkins avenue and you know what they do. they are giving away up to a 300 christmas trees to national guard families in honor of their service and dedication. so this weekend they were loading up trees and getting them into loving homes and in fact it started with a 100 tree effort and everybody wanted one. so, daniel is going to drive to north carolina to pick up more trees. we will help out 300 national
